Our stay was filled with mixed experiences. The resort had a wonderful sense of community and plenty of activities for families, especially with kids. However, we faced several issues with the accommodations and the service, which were disappointing and affected our overall enjoyment. While the outdoor space and activities were enjoyable, staff interactions and the cleanliness of our assigned unit left much to be desired.

We were disappointed upon entering our room, which had a damp smell and felt unclean. Although it was spacious, it wasn't the welcoming place we had hoped for.

I found the service to be quite unhelpful during our stay. The reception staff were not accommodating in addressing our concerns about the room, which only exacerbated our dissatisfaction.

We had an average dining experience, with limited options available on the menu. We didn't feel the food quality matched the rest of the resort's offerings.

I had a stay at The Macdonald Spey Valley Resort that came with lovely mountain views and spacious accommodations, but unfortunately, the check-in process was frustratingly slow and the cleanliness of the unit left much to be desired. While the amenities and activities available were enjoyable for families, the state of the facilities and service fell below expectations.

Rooms
5.0
The unit was spacious, but it was not clean upon arrival, with crumbs and dirt scattered around. The appliances, like the faulty tap, were also in need of attention.
Service

The staff were busy and seemed overwhelmed due to the high volume of guests. Despite their efforts to assist, the delays in check-in and maintenance issues made the experience less satisfactory.
Location

The resort is located in a beautiful area with great access to outdoor activities, though it felt disconnected from the main attractions of Aviemore.

I enjoyed my stay at the resort, especially the peaceful environment and spacious accommodations. The golf course was a highlight, as was the friendly service from many staff members. However, there were a few hiccups with the dining options being limited and the check-in experience could have been smoother. Overall, it’s a lovely place, especially for families seeking outdoor activities.

Rooms

The apartment was spacious and offered pleasant views, but felt a bit dated. We did have a good size overall, but could have used more crockery and cutlery.

Overall, my stay was enjoyable due to the spacious accommodations and beautiful views, but the unexpected electricity charges really became a concern for me. The amenities available were quite fun, but dining options could definitely improve. While I appreciated the cleanliness and comfort of the villa, the costs associated with my stay were a bit off-putting.

Rooms
9.0
The villa was spacious and tidy with beautiful views towards the ski slopes. It felt newly refurbished, which was fantastic.
Service
7.0
The staff were generally helpful and friendly, though I did encounter some delays during my check-in process that affected overall efficiency.
Location
8.0
The location is good for skiing, but it might be a bit remote for someone without a car as it takes about 20 minutes to get to Aviemore.
Dining
6.0
The dining options were decent but not particularly exciting, and I found the food at the clubhouse to be outshined by local cafes.
Facilities

The resort offered a variety of amenities, including leisure facilities which were nice, but the main pool was sadly closed during my visit.

I had a great stay overall at the resort, particularly enjoying the spacious lodging perfect for families. The check-in process was quick and efficient, which made the arrival stress-free. However, the dining experience could use some improvement, especially with the food being left out unrefreshed. The overall ambiance of the place was inviting, though some areas felt a bit neglected, particularly the outdoor spaces.

Rooms

The chalet was lovely, with double and twin rooms providing plenty of space for our family. Although it could use some updates, especially in the kitchen utensils, it met our needs well.
Service

For the most part, the service was friendly and efficient, particularly in the restaurant. However, I did encounter some issues with staff not being well-informed about the advertised benefits.
Location
9.0
The resort’s location is fantastic for outdoor activities and leisure, with plenty of trails and beaches nearby for family fun.
Dining

The quality of food at the restaurant was quite good, but it was disappointing that some meals were not replenished throughout the evening.
Facilities

The facilities were generally nice, including a swimming pool and outdoor play areas, but some parts could benefit from more attention to maintenance.
